Lyrica is an exquisite medication that is used for the treatment of nerve pain occurring in conditions like diabetes, herpes zoster infection (shingles) and fibromyalgia. This medication is extensively used to control partial onset seizures in adults. Pregabalin is the main active component present in this medication. Pregabalin functions by creating a disruption of a calcium channel that leads to distorted calcium current, which in turn inhibits the release of various neurotransmitters that ultimately, results in the relief from nerve pain and the prevention of seizures. The commercially available doses of Lyrica are 50mg, 100mg and 150mg in the form of capsules. A person suffering from fibromyalgia should take 75mg of this medication orally twice a day with a plenty of water. To alleviate nerve pain occurring in herpes zoster infection takes 50mg of this medication thrice a day or 75mg twice in a day. For diabetic individuals suffering from neuropathic pain take 50mg of this medication three times in a day. Doe managing partial onset seizures take not more than 600mg of this medication in a day.
